Privacy policy

Science Tokyo handles the personal information of Science Tokyo Fund donors in compliance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003) and in accordance with the National University Corporation Institute of Science Tokyo Personal Information Management Rules.

1. Science Tokyo Fund donors are asked to provide the following personal information:
   • Name, address, telephone number, email address, and relationship with Science Tokyo
2. Your personal information will be used for the following:
   • Sending receipts, letters of thanks, and other documents
   • Sending information on various events
   • Sending Science Tokyo email newsletters (upon request)
   • Producing commemorative items such as engraved bricks and naming plates (bearing the names of donors) as well as personalized calendars (given out during personalized calendar campaign periods)
   • Listing on the Science Tokyo Fund Online Donor List (which donors may choose to decline)
   • Other management tasks related to the Science Tokyo Fund
3. Science Tokyo outsources some of the tasks listed in 2. above. We may provide personal information to contractors to the extent necessary for them to perform outsourced tasks after confirming they have taken appropriate personal information protection measures. In such cases, the contractor will be appropriately supervised as necessary.
4. The personal information of donors who agree to provide such information when making their donations will be provided to a third party for the purpose of posting a donor list in the Kuramae Journal, which is published by the Kuramae (Alumni Association).
5. If we receive a request to disclose retained personal information from the person in question, we will do so after confirming the identity of the person in question. Further, if we are informed that the retained personal information is inaccurate, we will correct, add to, change or discontinue use of the relevant personal information as necessary after verifying the details of the request.
6. We will not use personal information or provide it to third parties for any purposes other than those indicated in 2. through 4. above, unless we specifically announce our intention to do so. However, personal information may be provided to third parties in exceptional cases when disclosure is legally obligated, when it is determined to be necessary to protect the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the donor or a third party, or when it is otherwise urgently necessary and the consent of the individual cannot be obtained.
