Schools, Faculties and Graduate Schools
Science and Engineering fields consist of six schools (undergraduate and graduate courses) and Medical and Dental Sciences consist of two faculties and two graduate schools, fostering human resources responsible for the development of diverse "sciences".
Science and Engineering
In the Schools where undergraduate and graduate schools are integrated, an educational system designed for seamless learning from undergraduate to master's courses and from master's to doctoral courses is provided, and degrees are awarded for each course.
This allows students to have a clear outlook from the time of admission to graduate school, making various selections and challenges possible according to their interests and concerns.
Relationship between college, department, and courses
Education facilitating students' interest in research
Bachelor's degree students at each school start their academic life inquiring into diverse fields of study. They then go on to join a department of their choice in the following year and start their undergraduate major studies. For graduate students, a wide range of choices is available to deepen their research and help steer toward their envisioned future.
Undergraduate students have a year to explore before deciding on a department.
Following that, students may then deepen their expertise through a graduate major.
Students are awarded a diploma upon completion of each degree level. Entry into a master's program requires passing an entrance exam. Entry into a doctoral program requires passing a screening. Applications from outside Tokyo Tech are also accepted.
The tables below describe how first-year studies, undergraduate majors, and graduate majors are related to one another, indicating the standard ways in which students may progress. Students advancing to graduate studies can, however, apply to a different department or school.

About the undergraduate course
Faculty of Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1951 and currently consists of the Department of Medicine (capacity of 100 students) and the Department of Health and Hygiene Sciences (55 in Nursing and 35 in Medical Technology), fostering human resources that will leap from advanced medical research and medical fields to the global stage.
Faculty of Dentistry
The Faculty of Dentistry was established in 1928 and currently consists of the 6-year Dentistry Course (53 students) and the 4-year Oral Health Course (22 in Oral Health Hygiene and 10 in Oral Health Engineering), fostering human resources that will play leading roles in the future as one of the nation's leading dental education and research institutions.
Institute for Liberal Arts (Kounodai area) (Japanese)
Emphasizing the original purpose of university education as "a place to acquire the education necessary to be a member of civil society," students from all faculties gather and study at the verdant Konodai Campus, fostering the education and human power required for healthcare professionals.
About the graduate course
Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences
We cultivate human resources in the master's and doctoral courses established in the fields of medicine, dentistry, or life science and engineering, who are well-versed in these fields, leading the world through close collaboration with other fields as researchers, educators with rich hearts who can devise and implement educational strategies, highly specialized medical professionals with high ethical standards and practical problem-solving abilities, and opinion leaders pioneering a new era.
Graduate School of Health Care Sciences
We establish an integrated educational and research system with the undergraduate faculties, setting up a 5-year integrated course that allows for the acquisition of degrees (master's and doctoral degrees) through continuous study over 5 years, fostering highly practical professionals, researchers, and educators with a broad perspective and high ethical standards who can work internationally and interdisciplinary in the health and medical fields.
