Web accessibility policy
Institute of Science Tokyo (hereinafter referred to as "Science Tokyo") is committed to improving web accessibility under its mission of "Advancing science and human wellbeing to create value for and with society". We aim for all visitors to the Science Tokyo website to access various information and resonate with our vision for the future.
Target conformance level and compliance
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1
We will work to improve web accessibility by using WCAG 2.1 Level AA, recommended by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), which standardizes web technologies such as HTML and CSS, as our quality standard.
- For more details about WCAG 2.1 Level AA, please refer to the W3C website.
Scope
This applies to websites operated by Science Tokyo that use the domain ‘isct.ac.jp’. The scope will gradually expand with the launch of new websites.
- In October 2024, we launched the Science Tokyo website; however, some websites related to Tokyo Medical and Dental University website and Tokyo Institute of Technology website still exist. Websites using the old domain are scheduled to be decommissioned by March 2028.
Deadline for achieving goals
End of March 2028
By the end of March 2028, when the websites using the old domain are discontinued, the related websites will also be fully migrated to the "isct.ac.jp" domain. We aim to complete the web accessibility measures at the same time.
Exceptions
The following are excluded from the targets as it is difficult to meet the standards:
- Google Maps
- Video content
- Audio content
- Content and functions provided using other external services
- Document files such as PDF, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Images and document files related to papers and research data
- Other external services refer to cases where there is code provided by third parties that cannot be managed or controlled by our institution within the web page.
