Science Tokyo’s responses to student proposals in 2024 Student Survey now available
Science Tokyo’s responses to students’ proposals collected through the 2024 Student Survey are now available on the survey website and posters in Hisao & Hiroko Taki Plaza on Ookayama Campus.
Every two years, the Institute conducts the Student Survey to gather feedback from students in the science and engineering fields regarding the educational environment, facilities, on-campus services, and other issues. This unique initiative, carried over from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Science Tokyo’s predecessor university, is led by student staff members who develop survey content, create questions, tabulate and analyze results, and communicate students’ opinions and suggestions to the Institute. Science Tokyo then strives to make enhancements in response to this feedback.
After the most recent Student Survey, conducted in the summer of 2024, student staff members compiled and analyzed the results, conducted interviews and discussions with relevant university departments, and then submitted the Student Survey 2024 proposals to Science Tokyo’s leadership team in March 2025.
Main proposals based on Student Survey 2024
- Expansion of entrepreneurship courses
- Creating an environment where students can easily take classes offered at other campuses
- Considering opinions on Science Tokyo’s Schools, Departments, and Graduate Majors
- Improving the environment of Tamachi Campus
- Disclosure of information and planning measures for the use of the study-room wing of Ookayama Library during the summer
- Reinforcement of harassment training program for all members of science and engineering departments
- Current status of study abroad and proposal for its promotion
- Expanded application of authorized absence system
- Increased participation in disaster drills

Starting in 2028, the Student Survey will be expanded into an Institute-wide inquiry that includes medical and dental sciences students, in addition to science and engineering students.
