Science Tokyo took part in the Go Abroad Fair hosted by RWTH Aachen University (RWTH) in Germany on October 21 and 22. This was the Institute’s eighth time participating in the fair since 2018.
Information booths hosted by 35 universities and institutions with links to study abroad programs were available to visitors on the first day of the event. At Science Tokyo’s booth, staff from the Global Education Division joined university research administrators (URAs) and staff associated with Science Tokyo ANNEX Aachen – situated within the RWTH campus – to greet students and provide guidance about inbound student exchange programs.
More than 100 students visited the booth, indicating extensive interest in studying at the Institute and in Japan. A Science Tokyo master’s exchange student currently studying at RWTH and a Science Tokyo Alumni Ambassador affiliated with the German institution also joined the booth to answer questions about the programs, scholarships, housing, and student life in Japan.
On the following day, an orientation was held for students who were actively considering studying at Science Tokyo. The session provided an overview of the Institute and its various programs, and included insights from RWTH’s International Office staff and a Science Tokyo graduate doing postdoctoral research at RWTH. This opportunity offered students a chance to gain a better understanding of the application process and the differences in laboratory environments in Germany and Japan.
RWTH and Science Tokyo signed a strategic partnership agreement in 2025. With the expansion of the student exchange framework between the two universities, the campuses of RWTH and Science Tokyo will likely see an increase in students from both institutions interacting and studying together in the near future.
