What I was most passionate about
My journey at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) began with a dream to explore the world and expand my horizons. As a fourth-year student working on a project about cervical cancer, I often felt as though I was standing in a quiet room filled with doors, each leading to new knowledge. I knew that opening one would begin a lifelong journey.
Fortune smiled when I learned about the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship. The full grant, combined with Japan’s reputation for advanced medical research, felt like the perfect path to pursue my passion. I applied with hope, and to my great joy, I was awarded this opportunity.
From that moment, my belief has only deepened: TMDU is not just a university, but a place where dreams take root and flourish. It remains one of the greatest chapters of my life, shaping both my passion and my future.
My most significant learning experience or memory
At TMDU, I was given the invaluable chance to design and carry out my own research project, from drafting the plan and performing experiments to discussing results and publishing our work. Each step was guided with patience and care by my sensei, professors, and colleagues, especially Dr. Yuasa, Dr. Akiyama, and the supportive team around me. Their mentorship not only sharpened my skills but also strengthened my confidence as a young researcher.
Graduation felt like a transformation. I often liken myself to a small worm becoming a butterfly, ready to fly back to my home country, Thailand. Though I had to learn how to fly on my own, I carried with me the lessons, encouragement, and unwavering support of my mentors. Whenever I look back, I know they are still there, cheering me on. Thank you, Department of Molecular Oncology. Thank you, TMDU.
Current activities and career
Now, I am working as a lecturer in the Department of Preclinical Science, Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University, Thailand. My responsibilities include both teaching and conducting research. I teach Medical Science to students across multiple disciplines, from bachelor’s to doctoral levels, in the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Applied Thai Traditional Medicine.
My research focuses on the molecular genetics of cancer and the development of therapeutic platforms aimed at precise drug delivery within tumor microenvironments.
How my studies at TMDU have contributed to my career
As a lecturer in the same field in which I graduated from TMDU, I strive to share the knowledge, skills, and experiences I gained with my students. My teaching is guided by the goal of nurturing compassionate medical professionals who value lifelong learning. TMDU taught me that knowledge is borderless and that passion for learning is essential for growth.
As a researcher, I now design and direct my own projects, contributing to publications in cancer research. The techniques I mastered at TMDU allow me to work more efficiently, and I am grateful to pass these lessons on to my students.
