Materials-Positive Society Visionary Initiative envisions a future in which "Things" — not only materials and devices themselves, but also the functions, value, and social relationships they generate — evolve throughout their entire lifecycle, from design and manufacturing to use, recovery, and regeneration, to realize a rich harmony between people and the environment. We seek to transform manufacturing itself into a system that creates positive value for life, society, and the environment through continued use. To this end, we will pursue the realization of materials whose value increases over time, new forms of manufacturing that contribute to the environment, and medical materials and devices that work in concert with living systems to enhance their functions. By bringing together knowledge and technologies across disciplines, we will make the evolution of "Things" a driving force for a positive society.
