Future Intelligence PD:Hiroshi Asahara

Our VI, Future Intelligence, is an ambitious initiative to expand the very framework of human knowledge, guided by a vision to predict and realize the future we aspire to through the evolution of knowledge. At its core lies the concept of a "time machine." By taking a panoramic view of changes from the past to the present across all levels, we aim to inductively uncover the underlying laws of evolution. We then apply these laws deductively to the future, enabling a bidirectional exploration of origins and futures, and opening pathways to previously unimaginable worldviews. By integrating diverse domains — including mathematical sciences, quantum science, AI and information science, life sciences, medicine and dentistry, as well as the humanities and social sciences — we foster transdisciplinary co-creation to generate new science and contribute to a better society. Under the banner of Science Tokyo, we invite you to join us on this journey into the unknown.

Science Tokyo introduced a new vision-driven integrated research framework across the Institute in April 2025 to create enhanced societal impact across various key areas. Driving the model forward are newly established Visionary Initiatives (VIs) — international, multi-sectoral hubs that strive to solve critical societal issues based on “visions for the future.”
