The Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL), established in fiscal 2015, is modeled after similar organizations in Europe and North America. Its responsibilities include providing faculty development (FD) and revamping the course evaluation system. As the name implies, CITL’s mission extends beyond just teaching and learning support; it also works to pioneer innovative new methods and environments to enhance learning.
Learn more about three of CITL’s major projects below:

  1. Establishing educational environments that incorporate advanced technology; integrating new teaching methods.
  2. Empowering faculty and academic leaders of Science Tokyo via programs such as FD, Staff Development (SD), and Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) to improve their skills as educators and achieve improved teaching and learning outcomes.
  3. Collecting and analyzing both short- and long-term data to confirm effectiveness of educational approaches in the fields of science and engineering.

CITL aims to contribute to the ongoing improvement of higher education based on Science Tokyo’s education and research philosophy and strategy. It engages in planning and developing educational support systems, cultivating enhanced teaching skills among faculty and graduate students, and exercising educational management to improve the overall standard of education.
