Message from Science Tokyo community to all those affected by 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake

The Science Tokyo community would like to extend its heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the powerful earthquake that struck various regions in Kumamoto Prefecture on July 28, 2026.

The Institute of Science Tokyo Hospital will respond promptly to requests from relevant organizations to participate in medical support activities, including those carried out by Disaster Medical Assistance Teams, while utilizing its experience in providing aid during the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes and other disasters.

In addition to medical support, the Institute is committed to contributing to the regions from an engineering standpoint based on its long history of research and education in fields such as earthquake research and seismic engineering.

Our thoughts are with the victims of this tragic event and the families who mourn the loss of their loved ones. We continue to pray for the speedy recovery of the stricken areas and the safety of all those concerned.
