Presentation at Expo 2025 "World Health Forum Veneto 2025"
On May 6, 2025, Vice President Nobuhiro Hayashi (Vice President for International Strategy and Engagement) and Associate Professor Momoko Nakatani (School of Engineering) from Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo), delivered presentations at the "World Health Forum Veneto 2025," held as part of the Veneto Region Theme Week at the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025. Under the theme of "Reducing isolation through smart approaches and ‘generative exchanges’ that promote health and revitalize communities," Vice President Hayashi presented university-wide initiatives to promote medical-engineering collaboration in light of university integration, and the application of AI to solve issues in an aging society. Associate Professor Nakatani, whose research focuses on "Living Lab"—a methodology for co-creating services with people in "living" environments that closely resemble their everyday lives, shared practical examples of her research. "The ‘town health center’ in a local community, operated by a visiting nurse, functions as a hub for preventive medicine, allowing older adults to come and go freely. By adding the Living Lab function, the center becomes a space for introducing new services and technologies, and for co-creating user-friendly products through direct dialogue between developers, researchers and older adults."
Through introducing Science Tokyo's research at international events like these, the Institute is expected to strengthen its global presence and foster further international collaboration.
