Science Tokyo climbs to top 20 in seven subjects in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, ranks 1st in five subjects domestically

Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo) has climbed significantly in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, published on March 25 by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the UK-based higher education analytics organization. The Institute secured top-20 positions in seven subjects this year, compared to two subjects in 2025.

In 2026, QS analyzed 19 subjects taught at Science Tokyo. Of these, 18 subjects were listed in the rankings, while 14 placed in the top 100. Seven subjects ranked in the top 20. In addition to dentistry, ranked 9th in the world, the Institute performed well in chemical engineering and mechanical engineering, ranking 13th and 15th, respectively.

Domestically, Science Tokyo took 1st place in five subjects in 2026, compared to two subjects in 2025. These subjects were dentistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, and electrical and electronic engineering.

In line with its mission of "advancing science and human wellbeing to create value for and with society," Science Tokyo will continue to enhance the quality of its educational and research activities while contributing to the international academic community.
