Student chorus Chor Kleines launches crowdfunding campaign in name of peace

December 11, 2024

Chor Kleines, an official student club of Science Tokyo, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support their project “Mixed chorus Chor Kleines challenge: Singing the War Requiem for peace.” The campaign commemorates the end of the Pacific War in 1945 and aims to raise awareness regarding the group’s upcoming concert in January 2025.

Chor Kleines was established in 1963. In addition to Science Tokyo students, the mixed chorus group includes students from other universities such as Japan Women's University and Seisen University.

At the student club’s 59th annual concert on January 17, 2025, Chor Kleines will join forces with Old Voices, a group of Chor Kleines alumni, to perform the War Requiem, a choral and orchestral composition by Benjamin Britten. A total of over 300 chorus singers, orchestra members, children’s chorus members, and soloists will participate in the performance of this magnificent war and peace-themed piece.

The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Pacific War, the theater of World War II that was fought in eastern Asia. Chor Kleines will sing the War Requiem to honor the victims of war and reaffirm the importance of peace.

Visit the campaign website now to support Chor Kleines as they prepare for their special performance.
