2025 Fall Entrance Ceremony
472 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs
Science Tokyo held the 2025 Fall Entrance Ceremony on October 22. Joining the students on Ookayama Campus were the Institute’s members of the board, deans and directors, special guests, and numerous family members of the students.
This fall, 472 students — 3 bachelor's program students, 261 master's program students, 7 professional master's program students, and 201 doctoral program students — were admitted to the Institute. A total of 339 students joined Science Tokyo from abroad.
The ceremony began with a greeting by President and Chief Academic Officer (CAO) Yujiro Tanaka. After highlighting the Institute’s mission of "advancing science and human wellbeing to create value for and with society," Tanaka touched on Science Tokyo’s new Visionary Initiatives (VIs) research and education framework, and encouraged the Institute’s new students to become "pioneers of a better and brighter future."
Next, Science Tokyo’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Naoto Ohtake offered his congratulations to the new students. Ohtake stressed the Institute’s important role in creating harmony between humanity and Earth, as well as our expanding presence in the virtual world. As the Institute shifts to its new vision-oriented VI framework, Ohtake urged the students to "consider your vision for a better world, and to share that vision with those around you."
After the introduction of other members of the board, deans and directors, and special guests, student representative and doctoral student Shota Matsuo from the Department of Information and Communications Engineering spoke on behalf of the new students. He declared that the fall 2025 cohort would pursue their individual goals with dedication and passion, while committing themselves to academic research that aligns with the goals of each School and Graduate School, and ultimately advances the mission of the Institute.
Warm congratulations to all the new students of the Institute, and welcome to the Science Tokyo community.
