Digital Creators Club traP lights up campus with projection mapping show

June 17, 2026

Digital Creators Club traP, an official Science Tokyo student club, hosted their second projection mapping show on Ookayama Campus on April 24. “Campus→Canvas #02 Powered by traP,” which lasted for just over 11 minutes, turned the side wall of Hisao & Hiroko Taki Plaza into a giant screen that featured digital content created by traP members.

This event was the result of traPM, a project launched within the student club in November 2025. Through a combination of 3D modeling, motion graphics, and video editing, the screened videos were produced by volunteer traP members who came together specifically for this event. The videos, projected in sync with music, attracted a notable audience of students and faculty members who had just finished their classes and lectures.

A key feature of the Campus→Canvas series is that everything — from video production to on-site operations and equipment setup — is handled entirely by students. The process of club members working together to create a single space has provided a valuable hands-on opportunity to master digital technology and gain experience in managing large-scale projects.

A video of the entire screening is available on the traP Science Tokyo YouTube channel.

Comments from participants

  • The projections matched the shape of the wall perfectly, adding to the immersive experience.
  • It was really interesting to see how the window frames of the building were used in the design.
  • Seeing the work of my senior students really motivated me to get involved. It made me want to be able to do things like that myself!
