Hideki Shirakawa, Hidenori Ichijo, Masanobu Kano, Fumio Koyama awarded honorary professor titles

Science Tokyo has awarded honorary professor titles to Hideki Shirakawa (Class of 1965, Chemical Engineering, former Tokyo Institute of Technology, currently professor emeritus at University of Tsukuba), Hidenori Ichijo (distinguished university professor at Science Tokyo), Masanobu Kano (Class of 1981, Medicine, former Tokyo Medical and Dental University, currently specially appointed professor at Teikyo University), and Fumio Koyama (professor emeritus and specially appointed professor at Science Tokyo).

President and Chief Academic Officer Yujiro Tanaka presented certificates to the four individuals on June 9 on Ookayama Campus. President and Chief Executive Officer Naoto Ohtake was also in attendance at the ceremony.

The title of honorary professor is conferred upon current professors, retired faculty members, and graduates of Science Tokyo who have received awards or honors recognizing their achievements in education and research, including the Nobel Prize, Order of Culture, Person of Cultural Merit, or Japan Academy Prize.

These four individuals have achieved outstanding research findings in their respective fields and made significant contributions to the advancement of scholarship and society. In recognition of their achievements, they have been awarded the title of honorary professor by Science Tokyo.
