2. Summer holidays at the Institute
From Saturday, August 8 to Wednesday, August 12.
As a general rule, students are not allowed on campus during this period.

Automated certificate issuance machines are going to be suspended during the next period.

The Education Planning Department will be closed from Monday, August 10 to Wednesday, August 12.

5. [Science and Engineering] Procedures for Fall Graduation
Students who will graduate in this September have to answer a questionnaire on the Web System for Students & Faculty to confirm their name written on their diploma.
Please check an email from the Student Division to the relevant students.

6. [Science and Engineering] "Pre-registration" of Humanities and Social Science Courses in 3Q and 4Q 2026
Undergraduate students and master's program students who are planning to take Humanities and Social Science courses（course numbers starting with LAH) in 3Q and 4Q are advised to apply through "pre-registration" on the Web System for Students and Faculty prior to the course registration period.

There are many courses for which the number of applicants reaches full capacity by pre-registration. Be sure to pre-register if you plan to take any Humanities and Social Science courses.

- Pre-registration period : Early September
- Notification of the results : Late September
- Target courses : 100, 200, 400 and 500 level courses (except for 300 level courses)

Details will be announced by email sent from "lah.yoyaku@ila.isct.ac.jp" address according to target courses. Please check emails sent from the Institute during summer break.

<1. Selection for Financial Support for Academic Year 2027>

Doctoral students who are enrolled in the graduate school at the time of selection and who will belong to the Energy Science and Informatics Course as of April 2027

Document screening and evaluation through "Energy innovation co-creative project"
- Document Screening Criteria
Document screening will be conducted based on the status of credits earned for [the credits indicated under Requirements 1-3 on page 7 of the Study Guide for Academy of Energy and Informatics.】
Please note that the restricted electives in the "InfoSyEnergy Social Design courses" listed under "Completion Requirements 3" are scheduled to be discontinued this academic year.
Therefore, students are strongly encouraged to complete these credits within the current academic year.

<2. Now Accepting Additional Applications for Adult Students>
For working, used to work students who belong to Science Tokyo's graduate programs of all graduate schools (master's degree program, professional master's degree program, and doctoral degree program), Academy of Energy and Informatics will recruit and select students for registration as "Associate-member students" from October 2026.

About Associate-member students' system:
This program is designed to enable adult students to acquire the latest energy and information knowledge, improve their own skills, and relearn as members of society through participation in events, etc. organized by the InfoSyEnergy Research and Education Consortium and Academy of Energy and Informatics as associate-member students in the Academy of Energy and Informatics. This will enable us to widely develop human resources in energy and informatics fields, thereby contributing to the building of a sustainable energy society.

Targets:
- Adult students (Working/used to work students) in the graduate programs of all Science Tokyo's graduate schools

*An Adult student is a student who falls into one of the following categories.
(1) Those who are currently employed
(those who are currently working at a job that earns salary, wages, remuneration or other ordinary income).
(2) Those who have already retired from a job that earns salary, wages, remuneration, or other ordinary income.
(3) Housewives and Househusbands

1. [Open to all students] Entrepreneurship Courses "(Master's/Doctoral) Professional and Value Creation A/C" Single-Session Participation
*Please note: This course is conducted in Japanese. However, questions in English are welcome during guest speaker sessions.

In this course, we invite guest speakers who are actively "creating and implementing new value" in society. They will share their backgrounds, current organizational challenges, and personal insights. Students will have the opportunity to connect with the guest speakers on a deeper level and engage with them directly. All students are welcome to apply to participate in specific sessions, even if they are not enrolled in the course.

2. [Open to all students] Entrepreneurship Courses (Leadership and Value Creation) and Workshops

Regardless of grade level or field of research, any student* may enroll in entrepreneurship courses that consist of various workshops to earn credits, or apply to join in individual workshops. The following is information on courses and workshops to be offered in 3-4Q.
*Course registration is not available to students in the medical and dental fields, but those students are also welcome to participate in individual workshops. (Credits or points will not be granted in this case.)

-Outline: This program is conducted hackathon-style, where participants will propose a new web service that they "wish existed," form teams, and develop it from scratch over an intensive four days, including a three-day camp. Six to eight professional web application developers will accompany and support you.

(b) [Advanced application now open] Design Thinking for Your Creative Practice (Series of 2 classes; an event of Science Tokyo SPRING (Science and Engineering fields))
-Date and time: Saturday, October 31, 2026 and Sunday, November 1, 2026 (Both classes from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.)
-Venue: Room S4-202, Ookayama Campus
-Outline: Grounded in "Creative Confidence" and a "User-Centric" approach, Design Thinking serves as a foundational framework for fostering entrepreneurship. It builds practical capability through hands-on experience, moving beyond mere theory, empowering individuals to define their vision and logically persuade others to realize it.
Led by professional designers and educators from the Stanford d.school, the University of Texas at Austin, and global organizations, this unique two-day workshop features fast-paced, highly engaging Silicon Valley-style facilitation.
*Please note: If applications exceed capacity, a selection will be held. The first 20 applicants who register by the end of August will be given "early applicant" priority. We highly recommend submitting your application early.

-Outline: In today's world, cultivating an "entrepreneurial mindset" - the drive to create and deliver new value - is essential for everyone, whether you pursue a career in research or excel in the business world. This course is developed and delivered by DNX Ventures, a world-class venture capital firm operating in both Japan and the United States. Whether or not you are interested in starting a business, this course will help you grasp cutting-edge societal trends and expand your career options.
