Student club CREATE seeks crowdfunding to reach space

December 11, 2024

Science Tokyo Rocket Club CREATE, an official student club of the Institute, has initiated a crowdfunding campaign to support their project “Science Tokyo challenge: Launching a large-scale rocket into space.”

CREATE is a technical club that builds and launches hybrid rockets. Their ultimate goal is to develop a rocket that will reach space, meaning an altitude of roughly 100 km. Various technologies are required to achieve this, including weight reduction of the rocket structure, attitude control technology, high-power engines, and long-distance communications. The club members are developing elemental technologies related to each of these categories.

Currently, CREATE is developing the C-83L, a rocket which it plans to launch in August 2025. Two main features in the C-83L will be the self-built engine and valve system, as well as the reefing mechanism, which reduces impact at the time of parachute opening and decreases the area over which the rocket may fall. Both developments are necessary for CREATE to potentially reach their goal.

CREATE hopes to achieve their dream of reaching space with the help of crowdfunding. Visit the campaign website now to support them.
