2025 Fall Graduation Ceremony

October 1, 2025

Graduation: 69 undergraduate and 368 graduate students.

The 2025 Fall Graduation Ceremony for all Science Tokyo students was held on September 22 on Ookayama Campus. A total of 437 degrees — 69 doctoral degrees, 222 master's degrees, 13 professional master's degrees, and 133 bachelor's degrees — were conferred.

The atmosphere at the ceremony venue

This was the first fall graduation ceremony following the establishment of Science Tokyo in October 2024. Joining the graduates and their loved ones at the celebration were President and CEO Naoto Ohtake, President and CAO Yujiro Tanaka, the Institute’s executive vice presidents, auditors, deans and directors, as well as special guests.

Tanaka began with a congratulatory speech to the inaugural fall cohort. He noted that this was a proud moment not only for those receiving their degrees but also for those who supported and supervised the students. He encouraged his audience to continue advancing science in various ways, including through Science Tokyo’s new Visionary Initiatives. “Whatever you hope to achieve, remember that Science Tokyo is your academic hometown,” Tanaka stated.

Ohtake also offered warm words of encouragement. During his speech, he emphasized the value of freedom — both in terms of the graduates’ freedom to choose their own way and the achievement of freedom from stereotypes — and urged the graduates to make courageous and impactful decisions. “I look forward to seeing you all thrive in your careers, and your lives,” Ohtake concluded.

After the speeches by Tanaka and Ohtake, degrees were presented to representatives of each cohort of graduating students. To conclude the ceremony, Jingling Yang, a doctoral program graduate from the Department of Physics, gave a brief address of gratitude on behalf of his fellow graduates. “Our education here has equipped us with not just knowledge, but also the responsibility to apply our skills to build a more peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable society,” he stated.
