Our university will support the "Medical Interpreter Training Course" which will be held by Tokyo University of Foreign Studies starting from April 2025. As a program certified according to the School Education Act, the 2025 course will include English, Chinese, and Vietnamese languages.

With the expansion of residence status options, many foreigners now live in Japan, and the number of foreigners visiting Japan for tourism and medical treatment is also increasing. As such, the importance of interpreters in medical settings is receiving increasing attention from the perspective of medical safety.

This course, run in collaboration with Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and our university, aims to provide the specialized knowledge required in a medical setting, as well as the language and communication skills needed to train specialists who can overcome language and cultural differences in order to facilitate accurate communication between patients and medical professionals.

On completion of the course, we hope that you will be able to play an active role as part of a medical team, responding to the medical needs of foreigners visiting or living in Japan.
