Presidential delegation expands the Science Tokyo network in Boston
On June 9, President and CEO Naoto Ohtake, Kotaro Inoue, executive vice president for finance and chief financial officer, and Tetsushi Furukawa, executive vice president for institute strategy, met with old and new friends of Science Tokyo in Boston.
After a tour and discussion with CEO and founder Tim Rowe at the Cambridge Innovation Center, the delegation had a lunch meeting hosted by Seiichiro Takahashi, consul general of Japan in Boston, at his residence. They were joined by John Shaw, vice provost for research at Harvard University, Professor Takao Hensch, department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University /Neurology (Boston Children’s Hospital) and Professor Nobuhiko Hata of the Surgical Planning Laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. During the luncheon, the Science Tokyo representatives presented the Institute’s Visionary Initiatives and engaged in a discussion with the attendees on future avenues for collaboration.
In the afternoon, the Science Tokyo group met with Professor Nobuhiro Hata at the Surgical Planning Laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, with which the Institute entered into a collaboration agreement earlier this year.
The day concluded with cold drinks and pizza at Harvard Medical School, where the delegation met with alumni to reconnect and share ideas.
