2. [Science and Engineering] 2025 3rd Quarter Make-up Classes and Final Exams Schedule
Period: Tuesday, November 25 to Tuesday, December 2
*The spare days for weekly classes is Tuesday, December 2.
*The schedule will be updated in mid-November. Please make sure to confirm the details of the courses you have registered.
You must show your student ID card of Science Tokyo when you take the exams. Please receive it at the Student Division immediately if you have not. You must not cheat in the exams. If a student is found to be cheating during an exam or other assignment, all exams and other assignments taken semester will be invalidated, and they will receive a zero or a failing grade for courses taken that semester, according to Article 7 of the Institute's Rules on Student Disciplinary Action, which were amended in October, 2024.

3. [Science and Engineering] Distribution of 'Internal Application Form' [Graduate school]
'Internal Application Form' will be distributed from November 5(Wed).

4. [Science and Engineering] Disaster Drill: Wednesday, November 12, 2025
A broadcast will be delivered on 12:25 signifying the commencement of the disaster drill.
Students (including research students) who are on campus at the time of the broadcast are required to participate in the drill.
Students who are then attending class are requested to follow the instructions of the faculty staff and fill in a safety confirmation sheet and insert it into the box located at the evacuation area.
The drill activities, however, will be held on a smaller scale at the wooden deck area of Ookayama campus.

The Academy for Leadership (ToTAL) is pleased to welcome Mr. Michael Sera to campus to deliver a lecture titled "Are you a Passenger or a Driver? -How to Lead a Successful Entrepreneurship Journey-", and answer questions from participants.
Mr. Sera will give a talk in English on the meaning and importance of living with an entrepreneurial mindset/spirit, how to acquire entrepreneurial skills and how to put them into practice in society. The lecture will be conducted in English, and questions may be asked in Japanese.
Mr. Michael Sera specializes in the semiconductor engineering field and he is a graduate of Stanford Graduate School of Business. After spending nearly 20 years involved in management and marketing at IT companies in the United States, Mr. Sera founded his own IT consulting firm in California, where he has been involved in management for many years. Alongside his primary occupation, he serves as a board member at the Japanese American Museum of San Jose and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California. He is also an accomplished speaker and moderator internationally active in the United States and Japan.
Note: This event is one of the certified events designated by the Center for Entrepreneurship Education, and is eligible for points toward the entrepreneurship course ENT.G261.

Regardless of whether you are an undergraduate or a graduate student, any student* may take entrepreneurship courses that consist of a combination of various workshops to earn credits, or apply to join a single workshop. The following is information on workshops to be offered in 3-4Q.

-Outline: This workshop is an advanced class of "Negotiation process for consensus building". Students who have taken the 2-day workshop in the past may register for this workshop. Experience negotiation through role-plays (e.g., business negotiation, community disputes, family disputes, and cross-cultural negotiation) based on your interests, and learn the concepts necessary for consensus-building. Registration of a minimum of 6 students is required to hold this workshop.

-Outline: This unique and valuable workshop will be led by 3 instructors who have taught students at Stanford University/d.school in the US, the birthplace of design thinking, and will allow participants to experience the fast-paced Silicon Valley-style facilitation. Participants will experience and understand the concepts of Creative Confidence and User Centric, which are the essence of Design Thinking, and aim to strengthen their creativity.

Among the many skills to strengthen communication, Nonviolent Communication (NVC) has gained attention as a highly practical and effective approach. This skill can be applied both to everyday challenges in research groups and to broader dialogues among science, technology, and society.

-Outline: Systemic design is a methodology that combines the theory of Systems Thinking with the practical methods of Design Thinking to view difficult and complex problems as systems, consider the related elements and interactions, and design solutions. It incorporates the perspectives of multiple stakeholders, analyzes the problems of the target system from a bird’s-eye view, moving back and forth between parts and the whole, and considers sustainable and useful solutions.

1. [Course offered in 3-4Q] ENT.V202 Bachelor's Fundamental Group Work for Value Creation B
A full-fledged Entrepreneurship Course has started this semester. This program is full of contents related to "entrepreneurship to create new values and set them in society" with a focus on "startups". The program consists of lectures by entrepreneurs who will passionately share their real experiences of how they started their businesses. They will not just teach about the "how-to's" but also share what their goals are and what they thought about when they started their business.
Mr. Akira Kurabayashi, Head of Japan, and Mr. Yoshiki Shiraishi, Partner, of DNX Ventures, a venture capital firm that has made many investments and fostered startups in Japan and the U.S., are invited as lecturers for this program, and provide full cooperation in the structure and contents for all seven sessions.
Through this program, students will be able to understand the reality of entrepreneurship to "develop and create new value," which is the goal of the entrepreneurship education of this university, and will be able to understand the essence of business for those who are interested in start-ups as well as those who are not thinking of starting their own company. These will give you a wide range of knowledge and options for your future career, regardless of which field you choose to pursue. The program forms the core of the university’s entrepreneurship education. It is not late to start taking the class! Enroll or participate if you are interested!
