We Held Homecoming Day 2025 in Ookayama!

June 27, 2025

Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo) held its first post-integration Homecoming Day on Saturday, May 24, 2025 on Ookayama Campus. This event followed the format of the Homecoming Day held at the former Tokyo Institute of Technology, and many participants, including alumni, gained a better understanding of the current Science Tokyo.

Despite the forecast of bad weather, it turned out to be a beautiful day with mild sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Many visitors arrived from the morning and were able to enjoy the event in comfort.

Numerous lectures and general meetings were hosted by alumni associations for various science and engineering departments. In addition to alumni, some people attended with their children and grandchildren. Current students and nearby residents also visited with their families and joined various workshops including “Let's check your mouth!” by the Faculty of Dentistry, science workshops by alumni group Kurarika, and a tour of the aircraft production site for the Japan International Birdman Rally by student club Meister.
Families of current students also actively participated in a campus tour by young staff members and the “Science Tokyo Meeting,” described below.

Science Tokyo Meeting, an Institute-sponsored event, was held at the 70th Anniversary Auditorium from 3:00 p.m. It opened with video messages from overseas alumni, followed by a keynote speech for the first session by Professor Yoshiaki Gu, Director of the Institute of Science Tokyo Center for Infectious Disease Education and Analysis (TCIDEA).
TCIDEA was established in November 2023 to promote essential initiatives in infectious disease research, education, and treatment, as well as other societally significant efforts. Professor Gu, the inaugural director, gave a lecture looking back on the COVID-19 pandemic and addressing measures against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
