President and CEO Ohtake Participates in Times Higher Education Asia Universities Summit

On April 22, 2025, President and CEO Naoto Ohtake and Vice President for International Strategy and Engagement Nobuhiro Hayashi attended the Times Higher Education Asia Universities Summit at Macau University of Science and Technology.

President Ohtake and Vice President Hayashi participated as panelists in the session themed "Emerging Leaders in Science and Technology: Insights from Asia's Top Institutes." During the session, Vice President Hayashi introduced the activities of the "ASPIRE League," a consortium led by Science Tokyo of Asia's top 5 science and engineering institutions: Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Tsinghua University, and Science Tokyo.

The panel discussion, featuring President Ohtake, President Nancy Yip of HKUST, President Teck Hua Ho of NTU, and Vice President Bin Yang of Tsinghua University, highlighted the initiatives of the ASPIRE League as a successful model of university collaboration in Asia. President Ohtake also introduced new endeavors at Science Tokyo during the session.

The session attracted approximately 300–400 attendees and served as a valuable opportunity for networking and exchanging ideas, and for promoting the new Science Tokyo to Asian universities.
