We are pleased to invite Professor Kenji Uchino (Department of Electrical Engineering, Pennsylvania State University), a graduate of Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo), to a special seminar to discuss the realities of university-launched ventures in the United States and the secrets of their success.
Why university-launched ventures in the U.S. are so important right now? Over the past 30 years, the number of
university-launched ventures by engineers has increased dramatically in the U.S., and the contribution of small and medium-sized enterprises has grown to exceed 50% of the total U.S. revenue.
Professor Uchino was the first legal dual-employer at Pennsylvania State University to start a university-launched venture in 1991, and has been at the forefront of research funding, technology development, and international marketing as president and vice president for the past 21 years. The professor’s venture was, to his surprise, the
“brain company” of Apple and Samsung Electronics, and contributed significantly to the commercialization of LCD laptops and smartphone built-in cameras.
In this lecture, Professor Uchino will generously share the know-how he has accumulated in his 21 years of experience.
Why don’t you turn your “I want to try it” into reality?
