Integrated education program in medicine/dentistry and science/engineering

The integrated education program in medicine/dentistry and science/engineering is a special advanced study program aimed at undergraduate students of Tokyo Science University. It enables students to learn the basic knowledge and research skills of medical and dental sciences as well as science and engineering, fostering interdisciplinary researchers, engineers, and healthcare professionals.
Applications will begin in 2024, and the program will commence in April 2025.

About the integrated education program courses

The integrated education program is composed of designated courses from each department and division, as well as interdisciplinary research projects (laboratory experience and practical courses).

About interdisciplinary research projects (laboratory experience and practical courses)

Program participants can choose to take interdisciplinary research projects (1, 2, 4, or 6 credits) involving laboratory experience and practical courses. Science and Engineering students can work in Medical and Dental Sciences laboratories, and vice versa. These courses provide hands-on opportunities to acquire broad basic knowledge, fundamental techniques, practical challenges, and various problem-solving approaches in an on-the-job environment.

About eligible students

All undergraduate students in their second year or above from any faculty or department are eligible. For interdisciplinary research projects, students must be in their third year or above.

About program completion

To complete the program, students must earn at least 6 credits from science and engineering courses and at least 6 credits from medical and dental sciences courses, totaling over 12 credits.
The program completion is determined at the time of graduation from the student's faculty or school, and a certificate of completion is awarded.
