Yasutsugu OGURA

Yasutsugu Ogura is auditor at Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo).
After earning his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) in 1974 and 1978, respectively, Ogura joined Nippon Kokan K.K. (NKK). In 1993, he was selected as superintendent of the company's No.3 steelmaking shop Fukuyama Works in Hiroshima Prefecture.
Ogura became executive assistant at NKK's Environmental Solutions Center in 2000. After NKK and Kawasaki Steel Corporation merged to form JFE Holdings, Inc. in 2003, Ogura continued at the company's Environmental Solutions Center, holding the position of executive assistant at the Planning and Marketing Department. Four years later, he assumed two new positions — vice president and East Japan Works assistant general superintendent at JFE Steel Corporation.
In 2008, Ogura became a member of the board and senior vice president at JFE Engineering Corporation. Two years later, he was promoted to executive vice president. In 2012, he returned to JFE Steel Corporation as executive vice president.
Ogura took over as president and representative director of JFE Galvanizing and Coating Co., Ltd. in 2015. He served as an executive advisor for the company from 2018 to 2020. He also served as an auditor at Tokyo Tech from 2020 to 2024, and as chairperson of the council for auditors of national university corporations, etc. from 2020 to 2022.
Throughout his career, Ogura has shared his expertise in sustainability and the circular economy with various groups, including Tokyo Tech and the Japan Business Federation.
