Shinichi UCHIDA
Executive Vice President for Hospital Administration and Chief Medical Officer
Shinichi Uchida is executive vice president for hospital administration and chief medical officer at Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo).
Uchida, a specialist in nephrology, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) in 1985 and soon entered the Graduate School of Medicine. He completed his doctoral degree in 1989 and joined the Department of Internal Medicine at Musashino Red Cross Hospital. That same year, he engaged in research at TMDU and then joined the Department of Nephrology at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Medicine as a postdoctoral fellow.
Uchida returned to TMDU’s Medical Hospital as a medical officer in 1992 and progressed through various roles, including assistant professor, junior associate professor, and associate professor. In 2014, he was appointed as a professor at the Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences. He served as deputy director of TMDU’s Medical Hospital from 2016 to 2020, as a special advisor to the TMDU president from 2017 to 2020, and then as deputy director of hospital administration and director of the hospital until 2023. From 2023 to 2024, Uchida was executive director and vice president for hospital administration at TMDU.
