Shigeki FUJITANI

Auditor

Shigeki Fujitani is auditor at Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo), where he oversees governance, management, and finances.

Fujitani joined Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. in 1981 and progressed through various important roles in the legal and finance departments. He worked at Nomura Holding America, Inc. from 1995 to 2002 in finance, IT, operations, and other areas. He became a member of the senior management team at Nomura Asset Management Co, Ltd. in 2008. In the course of the global financial crisis, he took on the role of senior managing director at Nomura Holdings, Inc., where he was in charge of transition and integration with Lehman Brothers. He became deputy CFO in the following year.

In 2013, Fujitani joined Nomura Real Estate Holdings, Inc. as an audit and supervisory board member, expanding his expertise in real estate development and property management. From 2020 to 2024, he served as auditor at Tokyo Medical and Dental University.

Fujitani graduated from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law in 1981. He also studied at the University of Michigan Law School and Harvard Law School. He is a certified member analyst of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan and a real estate transaction specialist. He is also a member of the Architectural Institute of Japan and the Nippon Finance Association.
