Hidetoshi SEKIGUCHI

Executive Vice President for Education

Hidetoshi Sekiguchi is executive vice president for education at Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo).

After completing his doctoral degree in chemical engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech), Sekiguchi joined the Tokyo Tech faculty as an assistant professor in 1990. He became an associate professor in 1996 and a professor in 2010.

From 1996 to 1997, Sekiguchi was dispatched to Thammasat University in Thailand as an advisor of engineering education under the Japan International Cooperation Agency. From 2000 to 2001, he was a visiting professor at McGill University in Canada. He served as vice president for international affairs at Tokyo Tech from 2014 to 2019 and as dean of the School of Materials and Chemical Technology from 2022 to 2024.

Sekiguchi's research interests include the development of innovative reaction processes for energy and environmental issues using plasma, ultrasound, and molten salts and metals.

Sekiguchi was director of the Center for International Exchange at the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan (SCEJ) from 2015 to 2017, and is currently chair of the ASEAN committee of SCEJ.
