Daisuke TOKI

Executive Vice President for Asset Strategy

Daisuke Toki has been executive vice president for asset strategy at Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo) since April 2026.

Toki has more than three decades of experience in global financial institutions, particularly in investment banking and asset management. Most recently, he served as chief executive officer of BNP Paribas Asset Management Japan from 2019 to 2026. Prior to that, he was president of Deutsche Asset Management Japan from 2016 to 2018. Earlier in his career, he was president of Goldman Sachs Asset Management Japan from 2002 to 2011 and a partner at Goldman Sachs. He also served as co-head of the Equity Division of Goldman Sachs Japan from 2000 to 2002.

Toki has also contributed to the development of Japan’s financial industry through leadership roles in major professional organizations. He served as a director of the Nippon Finance Association from 2004 to 2024, vice chairman of the Japan Securities Investment Advisers Association from 2007 to 2008, and a director of the Investment Trusts Association, Japan from 2008 to 2011.

Toki was appointed special advisor to the president of Tohoku University from 2014 to 2015, where he supported the establishment of the university’s venture capital subsidiary, Tohoku University Venture Partners. He has been a visiting professor in the MBA Program at Hitotsubashi University since 2012 and a visiting professor in the Service Engineering Master’s Program at the University of Tsukuba since 2014. His teaching focuses on the strategy of global financial institutions, ESG investment, and AI-driven fintech.

Toki received a B.A. from the University of Tsukuba in 1984 and an M.S. in Operations Research from Case Western Reserve University in 1986. He later completed the doctoral program in business administration at Aoyama Gakuin University in 2017.
