Research Infrastructure Management Center aims to enhance the institute’s research foundations, and recruit, develop and apply talent who use the foundations to promote research to enhance the institute’s research capabilities.
Key missions include:

  • Planning and execution of strategic procurement of research equipment and facilities, and research foundations pivoting around research facilities
  • Provision of technologies and knowledge utilizing the research foundations
  • Management of the research foundations, and promoting their use including shared use
  • Recruitment and development of talent who will organize and utilize the research foundations, and promoting various career plans
  • Providing support for life-science research ethics education and experiment plan auditing

The center has ten organizations; the Research Infrastructure Strategy Office, the TC College, the Core Facility Center, the Bioscience Center, the Biomedical Center, the Animal Research Facilities, the Research Support Center for Low-Temperature Science, the Bioresource Research Support Center, the Life Science and Bioethics Center and Robotics Innovation Center, to provide support to research across the institute.

    The office is responsible for planning strategic organizing of research equipment and facilities in the institute, and for coordinate plans and sharing information within the office.

  • TC College
    The office promotes all-Japan TC College projects to develop advanced technology personnel, and provides training and other support for engineers to improve their skills and careers.

  • Core Facility Center
    As a core facility aggregating technical employees with diverse technologies, knowledge and know-how, the center promotes joint use of facilities with internal and external researchers and associates, and conducts activity such as providing support for student education.

  • Bioscience Center
    The Center supports bioscience research by providing animal, plant, and gene research facilities, as well as sharing advanced research equipment. In addition, by providing cutting-edge knowledge and technology, the Center contributes to the promotion of research and the establishment of new research hubs.

    The Center contributes to the promotion of research in the medical, dental, and life science fields by providing internal and external researchers with access to advanced research equipment, laboratory equipment, contract analysis and technical support for experiments.

  • Animal Research Facilities
    The Facilities support research and education in the life science field through the appropriate care and management of laboratory animals and maintenance of the animal research environment. In addition, animal research will be conducted appropriately with consideration for animal welfare, while maintaining and improving research foundations.

  • Research Support Center for Low-Temperature Science
    The center provides freezing mixtures such as liquid helium across the institute, provides support for education and research on low temperature, and provides opportunities of joint research.

  • Bioresource Research Support Center
    The center provides education, conducts research and provides research support to contribute to the development of individualized medicine at the institute, as well as promotes the research and development of industry-academia-collaborated medical innovations.

    The center is establishing domestic and overseas research support networks to promote education and advanced research on medical ethics, research ethics and bioethics at the institute, and launches academic research on various issues concerning medical and dental research and bioethics.

  • Robotics Innovation Center
    Through the development of experimental support systems that utilize AI-equipped robots capable of performing experiments automatically and autonomously, we aim to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of researchers at Science Tokyo and beyond. This will help create a future that contributes not only to our institute, but also to the advancement of science worldwide.
