Museum and Archives
The Institute of Science Tokyo Museum is responsible for the preservation and succession of the history and cultural properties of its former organizations, Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
With the museum on the Ookayama Campus and the archives on the Suzukakedai Campus playing the central role, the library collects and conserves historical results (in education and research) and materials on diverse most advanced research and social contributions, and making them widely acknowledged in the public by exhibiting and offering them for view through surveys and research.
The “Centennial Hall (designed by Professor Emeritus Kazuo Shinohara)” that houses the museum is an iconic building itself, with the permanent and special exhibitions, science lessons for elementary school and junior high school students, and collaborative seminars with the educational committee of the Meguro District (where the institute is located), deepening interactions with local stakeholders.
The museum’s website shows information on special exhibitions and events, as well as a digital version of the museum’s collections, published materials from the archives, and documents such as catalogues, such as specified historical public records, of the Public Records Office.
