The Center for Innovation Management aims to contribute to industries and further, to society and create a positive cycle between the institute and the public, by working together with the industries to implement Science Tokyo’s expertise, smoothly executing industry-academia collaborated operations.

To achieve the aforementioned objectives, the Center for Innovation Management has established three departments: the "Open Innovation Office," which is responsible for promoting open innovations such as developing large-scale collaborations with entities such as companies, the "Technology Promotion Office," which manages collaborations with entities such as companies and local governments, provides support to various contracts such as for joint research, and manages and devises strategies for intellectual properties, and "Legal Affairs Office" which is responsible for promoting compliance in contracts, legal affairs on intellectual property, and in the conflicts of interest concerning industry-academia collaborations.
