CEHI promotes open innovation with a focus on human resource development activities and supports healthcare innovation leaders.
The Center for Education in Healthcare Innovation (CEHI) was established in October 2024 as a result of the reorganization of its predecessor, the Innovative Human Resource Development Division at the Institute of Education of Tokyo Medical and Dental University. In addition to educating students, CEHI aims to support the reskilling of professionals in the workforce—such as medical professionals, academic researchers, and corporate personnel—both onsite and off-campus. The center places particular emphasis on the Data Science Human Resource Development Program, the Digital Health Human Resource Development Program, and the Entrepreneurial Development Program, all of which have been active for some time.
CEHI develops its initiatives in partnership with various institutions, including higher educational institutions, government bodies, public research institutes, and other organizations, and promotes open innovation through human resource development in the healthcare sector. Therefore, we have established a business operating framework that can rapidly adapt to societal needs. Furthermore, our university serves as a representative institution for the “Medical and Drug Discovery Data Science Consortium” and oversees its administration as a secretariat. Founded in 2017, the consortium’s participating institutions have played a pivotal role in implementing the Data Science Human Resources Development Program, with participation exceeding 1000 individuals both within and beyond the university as of May 2025. The project has since expanded to include a range of activities, including collaborative research with alumni, new business ventures through industry–academia partnerships, and regional revitalization efforts aligned with the Vision for Digital Garden City Nation (Cabinet Office), all of which are expected to yield significant results.
By prioritizing human resource development, CEHI will continue to support innovators shaping the future of healthcare.
CEHI offers the Data Science Human Resource Development Program and practical learning opportunities to support research and new business development in the healthcare field. These programs are also available to participants outside of the university, creating a collaborative space for a diverse community. Information on CEHI’s human resource development programs and events can be found on its official website.
